The short version
SayLift is a workout and calorie tracker for iPhone and Android, made by NiceApps Co. It stores your workouts and meals on your phone. The first time you open it, it also creates a private guest account for you, with no name or email, and keeps a copy of your data in the cloud under that account. If you sign in with Google, or with Apple on iPhone, that copy follows you to a new phone.
Voice recordings, pasted routines, and the meal photos or words you give it are sent to an AI model to be turned into workouts and meals. Barcodes and food names are looked up in public food databases. Nothing is sold, and there is no advertising SDK in the app.
What SayLift stores
- Your workouts: exercises, sets, reps, weights, dates, routines and custom exercises you create.
- Your meals: the foods in each meal, their portions, calories, protein, carbs and fat, the time you ate, and what you typed or said. A small picture of a meal you photographed is kept on the phone only.
- Your settings: preferred units, training style, coach preferences, and the daily food guide if you set one (a calorie number, a protein number and the body weight you typed). The food guide stays on the phone.
- Your account: an account identifier that SayLift creates the first time you open it. If you sign in with Google, or with Apple on iPhone, the email address of that account is linked to it. Apple’s private relay addresses work too.
- Subscription status: whether Premium is active, handled by RevenueCat. SayLift never sees your card details. Apple takes payment on iPhone and Google Play takes payment on Android.
- Crash and usage diagnostics: via Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics, so that faults can be found and fixed.
What SayLift asks your phone for
- Microphone: only while you record a workout or a meal by voice.
- Camera: only when you photograph a meal or scan a barcode.
- Notifications: to tell you a voice log or a meal estimate is ready after you leave the app.
- Photos: no permission is needed. When you pick a meal photo you already took, your phone’s own photo picker hands SayLift that one photo. SayLift cannot see the rest of your library.
You can turn any of these off in your phone’s settings. Logging by hand keeps working without them.
What leaves your phone, and when
Logging by hand, entering a meal by hand, your history, the progress dashboard and the full exercise library all work with no connection. These things do leave your phone:
- Voice recordings. When you log by voice, the audio is sent through Firebase AI Logic to Google’s Gemini model, which returns the exercises, sets, reps and weights it heard. The recording is sent to be interpreted, not to be published or shared.
- Pasted routines. When you import a plan, the text you paste is sent the same way so it can be split into training days.
- Meal photos, voice notes and typed meals. When you ask for an estimate, the photo, the recording or the words are sent through Firebase AI Logic to Google’s Gemini model, which returns the foods, portions, calories and macros. A meal you enter by hand is not sent.
- Barcodes and food names. When you scan a barcode, the number is sent to Open Food Facts, an open product list, to fetch that product’s label. When you type a food, the words are sent to the same list to suggest products, and to USDA FoodData Central, the US government’s food database, to suggest plain foods such as eggs or rice. Words typed in Arabic are not sent to USDA. These lookups carry no account details.
- Your workouts and routines. They are mirrored to Cloud Firestore under your account identifier, so they can be restored later and so the coach can write its insights.
- Your meals. They are mirrored the same way so they can be restored later. The coach does not read them. Meal photos are not part of this backup.
No advertising, no ad tracking
SayLift contains no advertising SDK. It does not collect your phone’s advertising identifier: the IDFA on iPhone or the advertising ID on Android. It does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission on iPhone, and it does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Who processes your data
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, App Check, Crashlytics, Analytics): accounts, cloud backup, abuse prevention and diagnostics. App Check uses App Attest on iPhone and Play Integrity on Android to confirm that requests come from the real app.
- Google Gemini, via Firebase AI Logic: turning voice recordings and pasted routines into structured workouts, and meal photos, voice notes and typed meals into foods with calories and macros.
- Open Food Facts: looking up a scanned barcode or a typed food name in its open product list.
- USDA FoodData Central: suggesting plain foods for a typed food name.
- RevenueCat: subscription status.
- Google: Google sign-in on both phones, if you use it, and Google Play payments on Android.
- Apple: App Store payments and, if you use it, Sign in with Apple on iPhone.
How long data is kept
- Your workouts, meals, routines and settings stay until you delete them or delete your account.
- Crash reports are kept by Firebase Crashlytics for 90 days.
- Detailed usage events are kept by Google Analytics for Firebase for 14 months at most.
- Purchase records are kept by Apple or Google Play, and by RevenueCat, for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Deleting everything
In the app, on iPhone or Android: Settings → Account → Delete Account & All Data. It erases your workouts, routines, meals and coach notes from the cloud and from the phone, and removes the account itself. It is not a soft delete and there is no recovery afterwards, so note down anything you want to keep first.
Without the app, email usefz89@gmail.com and the account is deleted within 30 days. The Delete your account page has the steps, and the full list of what is removed and what is kept.
Uninstalling the app does not delete your account. The cloud copy stays in place, which is what lets a reinstall or a sign-in restore your history.
Children
SayLift is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
